Finding the Right Path in Your Therapy Journey
Whether you’re new to therapy or have been through different approaches over time, you may have noticed that not all methods work the same way. Sometimes, a particular type of therapy works well for a while but may no longer feel as effective as you continue your journey. This is completely natural. As we grow and evolve, so do the challenges we face, and our therapeutic needs change accordingly. Healing is not a linear journey—it's one that requires flexibility and openness to trying new approaches.
That’s why my practice offers a range of therapeutic methods, including hypnosis, counselling, parts therapy, guided imagery, and a variety of other techniques. My aim is to ensure that each session is uniquely tailored to you as an individual. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all process; it’s about finding the right approach that speaks to your specific needs at any given time. Whether you’re at the beginning of your therapy journey or exploring deeper aspects of yourself after years of self-work, I design each session to adapt and meet you where you are.
Why different approaches work for different phases
You might be wondering why one type of therapy works at some points but not at others. This happens because, as you grow, different parts of you come to the surface and require attention. Some parts may need a softer, more nurturing approach, while others may need direct confrontation or a deep dive into the unconscious mind. In my experience, combining various techniques helps ensure that no part of you is left unattended.
One of the techniques I often turn to is parts therapy, which is especially useful when certain aspects of your personality—often the hidden, shadowy parts—need to be brought into the light. These parts are usually hard to reach in traditional talk therapy, where the conscious mind is in control. However, through hypnosis, we can create a safe, relaxed state where these parts feel comfortable enough to emerge. With kindness and respect, I help these parts reintegrate into your sense of self, ensuring that all of you is moving forward on the path to healing.
A team effort for your wellbeing
An aspect of my practice that I particularly cherish is the ability to collaborate with other therapists. I often work with clients referred to me by practitioners who’ve done tremendous work but feel that a different modality is needed to move their client to the next level. I’m brought in to help uncover parts of the psyche that have remained out of reach, often using hypnosis to find those last few missing pieces.
This collaboration is incredibly fulfilling, not just for me, but for the client as well. By working together with other modalities, we ensure that every aspect of the client’s mental health is being addressed. I respect the work that has been done by the therapists who’ve come before me. Often, they’ve built the trust necessary for deeper work, allowing me to step in and help the client uncover the final pieces of their healing puzzle.
I always credit those therapists who’ve guided their clients through the most challenging phases. They’ve done the groundwork by identifying key issues and helping the client build healthier habits and coping mechanisms. My role as “the closer” is to guide the final, often crucial steps of the healing process. By addressing the deeper layers that may not have been reached before, I help clients achieve the lasting resolution and clarity they’ve been seeking. I consider myself lucky to be part of a larger team of professionals who are dedicated to client wellbeing.
A unique blend of techniques for holistic healing
One of the strengths of my approach is the flexibility I offer in adapting my techniques to complement other therapies. Whether you’ve been seeing a therapist for years and feel like you’re at a standstill, or you’re starting from scratch, I can help create a seamless transition from one therapy type to another. By using hypnosis and parts therapy in conjunction with other methods, we can often access parts of yourself that other techniques may have missed, accelerating your healing and giving you a deeper sense of clarity.
I’ve noticed that more and more therapists are recognising the unique benefits of the techniques I use, and I’m honoured to receive referrals from them. I see this as a testament to the effectiveness of a multi-disciplinary approach to therapy. No single modality has all the answers, but by blending various methods, we can craft a holistic experience that truly addresses your needs on every level—emotional, psychological, and spiritual.
Taking the lead
If you’re feeling stuck in your current therapy or find yourself going in circles without reaching the breakthroughs you desire, it may be time to consider a new approach. Don’t be afraid to ask your therapist what other modalities they might recommend or even seek out a second opinion. The best therapists will know when they’ve done all they can and will refer you to someone who can help you reach the next stage of healing.
As a client, you are always in the driver’s seat of your therapy journey. Your therapist’s role is to guide, but it’s your needs that should always come first. If you feel like there’s more that could be done, don’t hesitate to speak up and explore new options.
If you’re ready to explore a therapy approach that’s tailored to you and can help uncover the hidden parts of your psyche, please reach out. Together, we can create a unique, personalised plan that adapts to your growth and ensures that every part of you is on the path to healing.
